Our people
Bhanu Choudhrie
Founder/Director
Bhanu Choudhrie provides investment strategy at C&C Alpha Group, his areas of expertise include sourcing deals in emerging countries such as China, India and the Asia-Pacific region,
as well as clarity and direction on new and potential markets. In addition, Bhanu advises on strategy to incubate and grow businesses in order to maximise their potential.
Bhanu studied International Business and Marketing at Boston University before attending the Owner/Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is also a Director of Customers Bancorp in the United States; he was also a member of the board for Atlantic Coast Financial Corp prior to its acquisition by Ameris in 2018.
Bhanu is also a founder of Alpha Aviation Group (AAG) – in the decade since AAG’s establishment, he has guided the C&C Alpha Group subsidiary to its status as one of the leading global providers of airline pilot training.
In 2008, he was honoured with the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award at the UK’s Asian Voice Political and Public Life Awards.
Dhairya Choudhrie
Director
Dhairya is a Director of CCAG and the CEO of our hospitality division the Shanti Hospitality Group, which has a portfolio of over 2000 keys across 32 hotels globally. Shanti is comprised of three verticals; asset management for our own hotels operated by third party brands or operators, operational management of our own owned hotels and operational management of third party owned hotels.
Earlier in his career, Dhairya was instrumental in the sale of Grandeur Real Estate to Alpha G: Corp, working with Morgan Stanley. He was also part of the team that grew BIG Malls India with a $32m investment from Silverpeak Asset Management. Dhairya is a graduate in ‘Economics and Business Management’ from Boston’s North Eastern University.
Sumant Kapur Director/Entrepreneur
Sumant is a Director of CCAG as well as a board member of many of the companies he has been investing in to date. He has been an active entrepreneur since 1982 and has invested in India, the US and the UK with investments ranging from the aviation sector and property development to luxury hotels and spa resorts along with many other investments. He was a significant shareholder of Ebookers prior to the listing of the company.
Prior to this, Sumant was with Peat Marwick, now KPMG, in London and Canada. He holds a BA (Hons) Degree from the University of Delhi, is an ACA and has been a member of ICAEW since 1977.
Cherian Thomas Non-Executive Director
Cherian sits on the boards of several of CCAG’s portfolio businesses. He has more than 25 years’ management experience in diversified industries and formerly headed several divisions within the Tata Group.
Cherian has a Degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Business Management. In addition, he has a Post Graduate Diploma in Global Business from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.
